THE MUST-HAVE TREND: THE “BACK KITCHEN”
The discreet ally of open and well-organized kitchens
The back kitchen, increasingly popular in custom kitchens, is a separate space from the main kitchen designed to organize practical tasks. This concept helps maintain an open and welcoming kitchen while optimizing storage, meal preparation, and everyday household chores. Ideal for a functional layout, it provides a dedicated area where you can work without disrupting the atmosphere of the main kitchen—a perfect solution that combines efficiency and style.
THE PANTRY OFFICE
Formerly known as Butler's Pantry, this pantry/back kitchen was reserved for silverware and fine cutlery, to which only the butler had the key.
Today, this space has been modernized, often equipped with a sink and small or large appliances. Designed to efficiently organize provisions while adding a functional touch, the pantry office has become a versatile area for both food preparation and storage. It fits perfectly within the back kitchen, offering practicality while optimizing space.
THE WALK-IN PANTRY
Spacious, practical, and impressive, the walk-in pantry helps declutter the kitchen by providing a dedicated storage area. Like a walk-in closet, you can step inside and easily organize your provisions. At Cuisines Steam, it’s our favorite model—and a favorite among many of our clients!
Depending on the space available, you can enhance this area by choosing contemporary glass doors or, alternatively, integrate it discreetly into your kitchen with or without opaque doors, depending on the desired look!
THE HOOSIER PANTRY
Limited space doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice practicality and style. The Hoosier pantry was created to address the lack of space in 1920s American homes, which had neither cabinets nor dedicated closets. This multifunctional piece served not only as a pantry but also as a workspace for meal preparation.
Today, the Hoosier pantry, also known as a breakfast nook, remains an ideal solution for maximizing space while adding style to your kitchen. Although often integrated into modern cabinetry, it retains its unique character, perfectly combining practicality and aesthetic appeal.
PANTRY CABINET
Ideal for small kitchens, the pantry cabinet provides a practical and stylish solution to maximize storage space.
Unlike the Hoosier pantry, it doesn’t include a workspace, but it integrates perfectly into your custom kitchen. Choose a finish that blends seamlessly with your décor, or opt for a contrasting look to add character.
BUILT-IN PANTRY
Inspired by the classic hutch, the built-in pantry with glass doors combines practical storage with elegance.
This refined piece allows you to display your provisions while adding character to your kitchen. Just be sure to keep it organized to showcase this chic and functional space!
