Steam Kitchens: a kitchen design company born from a shared passion
Cuisines Steam, a Montreal-based company founded in 2002, was born out of a true love story – both between two people and for the art of living around cooking. It is the common dream of Brigitte Boulanger and Jean Côté, a couple passionate about interior design and the creation of contemporary kitchens, that gave birth to this unique company specializing in the design of custom kitchens in Montreal.
Both lovers of gastronomy and interior architecture, they decided to reinvent the central room of the house: the kitchen. Their vision? To create functional, elegant and timeless spaces that combine aesthetics, innovation and craftsmanship.
A name inspired by Quebec culture
The name Steam Kitchens is inspired by the colloquial Quebec term "stime," which refers to condensation on windows during cooking. This nod to human and culinary warmth pays tribute to the memories of Brigitte, who was introduced to the culinary art at a very young age by her mother. This name embodies authenticity, tradition and modernity at the same time.
A rise marked by innovation in kitchen design
From the beginning, Cuisines Steam has distinguished itself by presenting its creations at SIDIM (Salon du Design de Montréal), one of the most prestigious events in the design sector in Quebec, and has won a certificate of excellence in the kitchen cabinet category. Following this event in May 2002, the company opened its first showroom on Bellechasse Street in Montreal.
Steam Kitchens' reputation grew rapidly thanks to its custom designer kitchens, creativity and the quality of its materials. The company then became an essential reference for contemporary design enthusiasts and interior design professionals.
A presence rooted in the heart of Montreal
In 2006, Steam Kitchens moved its showroom to the vibrant Little Italy district of Montreal. This space offers a showcase for the latest innovations in custom furniture, integrated appliances and kitchen ergonomics. The company surrounds itself with a team of seasoned professionals: designers, cabinetmakers, craftsmen and installers combine their talents to offer a complete and high-end customer experience.
Still growing, the company felt the need for a space that matched its creative ambitions. In 2014, Steam Kitchens established its new headquarters on Saint-Laurent Boulevard, an emblematic place in Montreal. This new studio allows for a better display of its collections, design innovations and mastery of custom execution, while meeting the needs of an ever-expanding team.
A sustainable vision: birth of the Coquo brand
In 2017, true to its spirit of innovation and environmental sensitivity, Cuisines Steam launched a new brand: Coquo. Specialising in the creation of freestanding modular kitchens, Coquo offers a collection of solid oak furniture with a sleek and contemporary design.
Designed for an environmentally conscious clientele, this range combines durability, flexibility and aesthetics. Easy to install and move, Coquo modules adapt to the evolving needs of modern life while reducing the environmental footprint of traditional renovations. An innovative solution for those looking for durable, elegant and eco-responsible furniture.
Steam Kitchens Today
Today, Cuisines Steam is much more than a kitchen designer: it is a creator of living spaces where each project is unique. The company is known for its personalized approach, its ability to translate its customers' needs into elegant designs, and its attention to detail in the manufacture of high-end kitchens in Montreal.
